CHRISTOPHER WHITEHORNE, INC.Quality Custom HomesChris Whitehorne – President/General Contractor
|
Chris Whitehorne, Inc., founded in 1994 a family owned and operated Building, Design and Development Company, has bee involved in the building industry for 32 years. Chris started his career in a system that is nearly unheard of today; the apprenticeship. Over an 11 year period he worked with a New England Architectural/Building firm that trained its apprentices through the journeyman levels to master status. This firm designed and built specialty homes in the Vermont Hawk Mountains primarily for European and Venezuelan clientele. No two homes were alike and all phases of carpentry were hand crafted on site, including doors, windows and cabinetry. This custom approach is present in his current projects and this training brings knowledge of trades in sequence, and how they effect each other. Chris’ experience ensures that a seamless transition occurs from the completion of one trade to the beginning of the next, and that no gap is left that can become a serious issue. Some of the most expensive structural damage can come from the omission of a 50-cent piece of flashing. Chris is a member of the Raleigh-Wake County Homebuilders Association, Board of Realtors & Better Business Bureau. He annually builds 15-20 homes, of which about ½ are pre-sale homes. He’s been a Parade of Homes participant & won numerous Parade of Homes awards. Gavin Whitehorne joined the company after attending Appalachian State for Business and has made valuable contributions to project management and budget control. He has developed procedures that bring clarity into the building process and his use of CAD is essential for custom design. Tiffany Whitehorne joined the company with a Communications degree from East Carolina U. She brings the company into the high tech age with interactive connections the customer during the construction and decorating phases, and between customers and suppliers during the 30-day and 1-year warranty phases. Building Process: Once the design complete and all final decisions signed off, the customer is given a Homeowner’s Manual containing schedules, contacts for choices, description pamphlets, and catalogues. This manual makes clear what choices and timeframes are. There are three scheduled meetings with the builder during contruction: house site, pre-sheetrock walk through and pre-closing walk through. These meetings are crucial in preventing misunderstandings concerning details that are important to the customer. After the final walk through and closing, the customer is connected to the on-line warranty network for continuing service. Warranty: The 1-year builders warranty provides corrections and adjustments for the period after closing. The 2-10 Homebuyers’ Warranty is an insurance backed continuing process that covers electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems for 2 years and structural systems for 10 years. |
